Tonight the Cute Boyfriend and I went to a birthday party. At the party, I met a guy named Gary. He's 58 and a former cop - now college professor. He said, "Wow, have we met?"
I knew we hadn't. He was sure we had.
Then, he said, "You remind me of someone."
Really? Who?
"I can't place it." Then he thought about it for a long time. "Oh yes, that girl from a band in the early 90's. Wilson Pickett!"
Wilson Phillips?
"Yes, yes, the sisters. You remind me me of the heavy one, you have her face."
Ok, yes. I am complaining about being compared to Carnie Wilson. I know, I know, it could be much worse (someone once told me I looked like Kathy Bates). But I really hate the fat actress thing. I have flaming red hair and I don't get Debra Messing (my thin sister does), I have HUGE umm... eyes and I don't get any parallels.
I know it was a compliment. The guy was being flirty but I've said it before - is this my ONLY feature? "Sure, you know Jessica! The umm.. heavy girl in our class." "No, not that Jessica. The other Jessica. The chunky girl." ARGH!
I don't see where that was a compliment at all! "You remind me of that heavy girl....ya know who I'm talking about?" Pul-lease! Man needs to go back to charm school!
That's kinda rude in my opinion if u only met him. U do have debra messing hair though, which is hot. That's all I could really see from ur pic. I don't see any resemblance to any actress I can think of, but esp. not Bates or Wilson. That guy was insane.

When I was about 18 and working at Wal-Mart, there was this other really heavy door greeter. She was a little slow developmentally but really sweet.
I kept having other employees mix us up.. we looked nothing alike other than the fact we were both heavy and had brown hair. She was much heavier than me though and it drove me insane when people said things like "When did you become a cashier, I thought you were a door greeter or just outright calling me by her name. I had one person be like "I always get you 2 mixed up!"
I've always thought Carnie Wilson was very attractive, both before and after the weight-loss. I don't think the guy was a jerk ... he said you "have the face" of someone pretty and obviously meant it as a compliment. I'd rather be compared to a pretty heavy person than an ugly thin one.
That guy is a big jerk...forget him!!!!! I can totally see the Debra Messing thing....I LOVE your hair and you are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! When I first joined here..I remembered seeing your pic right away and thinking to myself how gorgeous you were!!!
I guess the reason people are getting all up in arms here and calling the guy a pig is because he brought up the fact that Carnie Wilson is (was) the "heavy one". So heavy people can't be attractive?
I remember Dee (newfiedarling) saying she's been told she looks like Jann Arden. I agree. Jann's gorgeous and though I'm positive Dee at 178lbs. weighs quite a bit less than Jann does, is it any less of a compliment?
